Set in the 1970s and early 80s Columbia, this thrilling video slot is inspired by the hit Netflix TV show of the same name and follow's the real-life story of one of the 20th century’s most infamous criminals, Pablo Escobar. Consisting of 3 rows across 5 reels, the Narcos RTP sits at 96.23%, can be played from as little as 20p and has 243 different ways of winning.

This is one of the best-looking video slots on the market, not only because of the exciting animations are so exhilarating but because the artwork recreates the characters from the show. Amongst symbols such as the Miami-inspired flamingos, cool cars and planes, you have symbols featuring all the characters from the show and all with excellent likenesses – even the card symbols are jazzed up with tools of the Cartel’s trade. Aside from the graphics, this slot is brought to life even further by the excellent sound design. Not only does the ambient guitar music drop you right in the middle of Colombia, but the sound design and effects overall push it even further.

What’s more is that with each unique feature that the Narcos slot has, there is a new setting for almost every one: whether it’s his hometown of Medellín—the epicentre of his empire—the gates of Escobar’s own fortress, ‘La Catedral’, or the shady Columbian nightlife, there is a sight to see with almost every spin. However, possibly the best feature of all has to be the 243 Ways to Win format. It has become a popular alternative to more traditional reels as it allows you to create more winning combinations through matching symbols on any space on to the left of the other reels. Similar to a Megaways™ mechanic, this system is revolutionising slot machines and means there’s still plenty learn about online gambling.

How to Play

Before you can start running alongside the cartel, you’ll need to be shown the ropes. It's the standard 3 symbols needed for a match but before that, you’ll need to set your parameters to ensure you remain in control.

On your bottom navigation bar, you have all of the controls you’ll need to become a cartel king. Here you will find your adjusters for setting bet level on the left-hand side and coin value and on the right. Your autoplay and max bet buttons can be found on either side of the main spin button, located in the centre and cleverly designed as the chamber of a revolver.

All further settings, such as audio and display controls can be found in the very bottom-left corner of the screen, and once you’ve got the setup just how you like it, you should be ready. Remember, there are 243 different ways to win, so get yourself prepared to spin.

Bags of Bonuses

Escobar and his cartel counterparts were well known for their love of excess, so in a similar spirit, the Narcos slot machine has a tonne of bonuses to be won. Running an empire isn’t easy, so let’s show you how they work.

Walking Wilds

Your wildcard symbol for this slot is the DEA Badge symbol. Although it typically works as a substitution symbol to complete a winning combination, if you happen to land this in addition to a pre-existing match, it will transform into a Walking Wild. Seen in many NetEnt games, this basically means that the wild will stay in play, moving one reel to the left as the remaining symbols continue to move on the next spin, which will continue as long as you continue to make winning combinations.

Free Spins

A bonus round can be triggered landing 3 car scatter symbol on the 1st, 2nd and 5th reels. If this occurs, the cars will burst into flames as the screen fades to black and you are greeted by a neon sign that reads ’10 Free Spins’. This feature transports you to the stylish surroundings of Columbian nightlife and is just a teaser of what video aspects are to come.

The Drive-By feature is a randomly triggered event and another featuring a hugely exciting animation. If triggered, a cool muscle car will race past the board as the passenger—undoubtedly a rival of Escobar’s—opens fire on the board. Stray bullets will shoot through random symbols on the reels, turning them into wilds – if you’re lucky enough, this might even combine with a winning combo as mentioned above, earning you free spins and even more bang for your buck.

Locked Up

To trigger this feature, you must match 3 ‘Locked Up’ scatter symbols, which is the mugshot of Escobar himself. You will be rewarded with an instant coin prize and a new set of reels will appear, with the ‘Locked Up’ scatters following you and being literally locked in place. You then have 3 spins to turn your scatters into winning combos and must find as many golden briefcase symbols as possible to earn prizes, multipliers and even more spins. Each Locked Up symbol will have a different value displayed on the placard of Pablo’s mugshot, meaning these can really help you rack up the cash if you manage to chain them with golden briefcases.
