Bingo hall link to late great Higgins
It would seem that it's not only the wonderful Bucky Bingo contingent who managed to achieve greatness in bingo halls around the country and online.
The recent death of snooker legend Alex Higgins has uncovered an interesting fact. Former player Ian McCulloch has revealed that Higgins got a bit of a push on the way to stardom after a meeting with local businessman John McLoughlin the owner of a string of bingo halls at the time.
Speaking to the BBC, McCulloch related how he was friends with John's son Lee, and how John first met the charismatic snooker player in 1970.
Lee McLoughlin told the news provider how his father eventually became Higgins' manager. He said:
"He heard about this young Irish lad so went to have a look at him. My dad realised he was something special and starting looking after him. He backed him for money matches and applied for him to turn professional," he said.
Bingo celebrities
Of course, Higgins isn't the only famous face linked to offline and online bingo. A number of celebrities from as far afield as Hollywood have tried their hand at bingo calling in order to raise money for good causes.
Friends star Courtney Cox and millionaire heiress Paris Hilton have appeared at Hamburger Mary's in California, reading the numbers to star-struck players.
At Bucky, we know that the real stars are those who play bingo games with us day-in and day-out, and that's why we try our best to offer the best gaming experience possible.
