When free online bingo met Scrabble
Free online bingo isn't the only game that has taken to the internet like a duck to water.
Facebook applications such as Scrabble and Lexulous have proven immensely popular online and in the process brought a whole new audience to the legendary word game.
However, board game makers Mattel have just announced the biggest shakeup to the Scrabble rule book since it launched in the 1930s.
Free online bingo players have been left speechless by the revelation that Mattel is introducing a new version of the game in July 2010 that allows the use of proper nouns like places, people and brands.
A spokeswoman said that the new Scrabble rules will "introduce an element of popular culture into the game" and so, in that spirit, we thought we'd suggest a few everyday names you might want to drop into your next game:
Bucky - Worth a cool 16 points, the name of your favourite online bingo site will get you off to the perfect start
BB - While only racking up 6 points, the disco-dancing Bucky Bingo mascot is nevertheless a lifesaver when you're really short of options on the Scrabble board
Cleo - This iconic Egyptian queen is a useful Scrabble 6-pointer and star of the Cleopatra's Chest bingo bonus game
Thor - Also worth 6 points, Thor can be found on fellow bingo bonus game Thor's Thunder
Dabbers - You'll get 12 points and a whopping 50-point bonus if you use all seven letters on Dabbers, which are a mainstay of many bingo clubs
