When Byron met bingo
Lord Byron may be renowned as one of the greatest English poets of all time but not many people know he also lent his name to a bingo club.
Byron Bingo Hall in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire came to national attention after featuring prominently in the second part of hit Channel 4 documentary The Scandalous Adventures of Lord Byron.
Loyal bingo players were quizzed about the Romantic poet by Hollywood celebrity Rupert Everett during several exciting bingo games.
The gathered bingo players made side-splitting comments but perhaps the one who hit the nail on the head was the woman who simply said: "He was a bit of a lad, wasn't he?"
The film crew travelled to Nottinghamshire because Hucknall parish church is the final resting place of Lord Byron, who was renowned as much for his hedonism as for poems such as the epic Don Juan.
Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of Lord Byron, is also nearby and featured at the end of the documentary.
Bingo is popular with many celebrities
Lord Byron was one of the most recognisable figures of his day - but he is far from the only celebrity with links to the bingo world.
Catherine Zeta Jones, Denise Van Outen, Jade Jagger and Elle MacPherson have all played a few lines of bingo in the past.
Meanwhile, singer Robbie Williams and F1 champion Damon Hill are among the other world-famous celebrities to have taken part.
Of course, you don't need to be famous to enjoy one of the nation's favourite pastimes.
Bucky Bingo gives you the chance to enjoy fantastic games of online bingo every day in the comfort of your own home - meaning you won't have to worry about dressing up like a Hollywood superstar!
