Officials view online bingo differently
Last week's hung Parliament result in the General Election could have an effect on both the land-based and online bingo industry, according to a sector commentator.
Writing for Bingo Supermarket, Jayne Wilson claimed that the bingo industry is an easy target for taxation, and reckons attitudes to the pastime differ across the three political parties. Wilson believes Labour see the sector as "a target for taxation", while the Liberal Democrats see it as a social importance. The Conservatives, she added, remain tight-lipped, although a shadow minister recently showed support at a recent Bingo Association meeting.
Wilson also called for solidarity between offline and online bingo companies:
"[We] would urge online bingo operators to form an alliance in the form of an online Bingo Association in order to tackle and raise awareness of potential issues that will come around once the Government find its feet and start looking for a way to bring in revenues to service the country's debts."
Party political bingo
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg could do with a quick game at a bingo club to alleviate his stress as perhaps the most important man in British politics right now, but what would his fantasy bingo card be?
Presumably 57 would feature prominently as it is the number of seats won by the party nationwide. Similarly, the 2 would be involved, representative of the coalition choice between Labour and The Conservative Party the Lib Dem leader has to make.
Also on Clegg's card would be 90, as it has been nearly 90 years since the party has been in government.
Bucky players tired of politics can always relax with a game of online bingo during its third birthday celebrations - the result is at least more decisive.
