Another good turn for bingo
Bingo is again proving its worth as a fundraising activity.
On Friday, December 11th 2009, there will be a bingo and quiz night to boost the coffers of Grampound Road Pre-School in Cornwall, reports the Falmouth Penryn Packet. The event will take place at the Robert Harvey Memorial Hall, which is better known locally as Grampound Road Village Hall.
A Christmas theme will be at the heart of proceedings so bingo fans can expect to receive a homemade mince pie and glass of mulled wine as soon as they walk through the door.
Bingo games offer stocking fillers
And there's no shortage of potential stocking fillers and presents waiting to be won.
For example, the older generation can enjoy Marks and Spencers vouchers and a Rick Stein gift set while tickets to a production of Jack and the Beanstalk and the Blue Reef Aquarium are sure to bring a smile to any child's face.
Individual tickets are priced at £1.50 although groups of bingo players can buy four tickets for £5.
Bingo has a long and distinguished reputation when it comes to raising money for good causes.
Every year, bingo clubs across the UK organise events to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer as part of Bingo for Breakthrough Week.
In 2009, for example, a member of staff at Buckingham Bingo Preston agreed to have his legs waxed in order to raise money for the cancer charity.
And over in Huyton, a team of Buckingham Bingo staffers were sponsored £500 to climb Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales.
