New mum Denise is eager to take on next challenge
Bingo fanatic Denise Van Outen has been training for an 80 kilometre charity hike along Perus famous Inca Trail. She will be joined by a number of celebrity friends taking part in the walk to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
The sponsored hike will take place in September and was organised by Denise and pal Fearne Cotton who both famously climbed Kilimanjaro for Sports Relief last year. This year, they will be joined by fellow celebs such as TV presenter Holly Willoughby, model Abbey Clancy and pop stars Pixie Lott and Alexandra Burke.
While easier than the Kilimanjaro climb undertaken by Van Outen and Cotton, the seven day expedition along the Inca Trail looks set to be gruelling for the hiking newcomers. The team will have to complete around 13k per day and, at altitudes of around 3,950 metres, could have to deal with altitude sickness; something which both Denise and Fearne are no strangers to having suffered while climbing Kilimanjaro.
Denise, who gave birth to daughter Betsy just a few months ago, is excited at the prospect of the challenge. "The Inca trek is something I have always wanted to do," the Essex girl said recently.
"Ever since we climbed Kili we have been looking for a new challenge. Its going to be an amazing experience and were so happy to be raising money for Breast Cancer Care, a charity which is really close to our hearts."
