Breast cancer sufferers benefit from bingo
Bingo is well known for its support of breast cancer sufferers and today brings yet another heart-warming example.
Three years ago, Della Hancock was diagnosed with breast cancer and admits that the doctor's words turned her life upside down.
The 46-year-old may have overcome that trauma but she has not forgotten her fellow sufferers, which is why she decided to forge a new sideline as a bingo event organiser.
Ms Hancock hosted her third women-only bingo night at the Civic Hall in Grays on Friday, September 11 2009. Entry to the bingo game session cost £20 and all proceeds raised will be put towards buying a new digital mammography device for the Lady McAdden Breast Screening Unit in Westcliff-on-Sea.

She revealed that a desire to give something back provided the inspiration for the bingo game fundraisers.
"I was treated privately when I had breast cancer but wanted to do something for a charity," she said.
"I've not looked back I'm doing fine and enjoy life. Lots of my friends use Lady McAdden for screening and I think it's a worthy cause."
Buckingham Bingo is similarly proud to give something back as a member of Bingo for Breakthrough, an annual week-long extravaganza to raise money for the breast cancer charity Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.
The company recently set itself a target of raising £20,000 for the charitable body in the first year of a two-year deal.
Fundraising events will take place throughout the year as Bucky Bingo makes every effort to reach the goal ahead of schedule.
