Bingo fan Chris Moyles celebrated this week after new figures claimed a rise in his breakfast show audience. The DJ, who hosts the Radio One morning slot, recently revealed he had visited a bingo club for the first time. While Moyles didn't say if he had won any prizes from the trip, he commented that the experience was a lot of fun.

Snooker legend Alex Higgins got his big break after being spotted playing at bingo halls in the north-west, it has been revealed. Former player Ian McCulloch told the BBC that his friend's father, who owed the clubs, got involved with Higgins in 1970. Higgins even moved into the family home before heading to the World Championships and 1972 and become the tournament's youngest-ever winner. "[My friend's father] applied for him to turn professional," said McCulloch.

Bingo's cool factor has shot up after former Blue star Simon Webbe confessed that he loves taking girls on first dates at bingo clubs. The singer revealed that he enjoys playing bingo games with a would-be partner during the early stages of a relationship. Webbe added that if he could take a fantasy celebrity date, it'd be movie star Sandra Bullock. "She's so hot on screen," said the former boy band star.

The 27-year-old singer recently took time off from her position as X-Factor judge to recover from a bout of malaria. However, a source has told the Daily Mirror that she has also been using the time to meet with American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest as well as Fox TV producers to discuss her future.
