You're never too old for bingo
Online bingo is growing in popularity among younger players but the evergreen numbers game still has a fervent following from the older generation, both online and off.
Earlier this month, it was revealed how bingo fan Anne Webster told Shipley MP Philip Davies about the history of Buckingham Bingo Bradford during his recent tour.
Nothing unusual about that, you might think. Although what we ought to mention is that Anne, a bingo club regular, has reached the grand old age of 102.
Buckingham Bingo Bradford even arranged a party to celebrate her birthday on April 28 2009, which included free bingo games, a bingo-themed cake and a chauffeur-driven limousine to and from the club.
Anne has been coming to Buckingham Bingo Bradford ever since it opened, so what better way to celebrate than with some free bingo fun?
Older bingo fans aplenty in Yorkshire
But Anne is not Yorkshire's only bingo-playing centenarian.
Nell Horseman, a resident of Eastfield in Scarborough, is 101 years old and a big bingo fan like Anne.
Nell was a fixture for two decades at the Eastfield Pop in Luncheon Club, which gave elderly residents an opportunity to socialise and play a free bingo game or two, according to the Scarborough Evening News.
Although lack of funds forced the community group to close its doors in 2008, a grant from North Yorkshire police has finally allowed it to reopen.
So amid all the hype about how young adults are finally discovering traditional and online bingo, don't forget the numbers game is still hugely popular with the likes of Anne and Nell.
At Bucky Bingo, we offer a fantastic selection of games to players from every age range (although they do have to be over 18!), with super bingo bonuses and side games that are sure to please everyone from twentysomethings to centenarians.
