Bingo fan reaches 100th birthday
A bingo fan in Haringey is celebrating a very special birthday this month. Avid bingo player Lydia Clark turned 100 and enjoyed her special day with friends and family, some of whom she met at her local bingo club.According to the Haringey Independent, Clark still manages to find the time to play bingo once a week at the day centre in Woodside House. No doubt she'd appreciate some online bingo games as a birthday present!
Mayor Eddie Griffiths attended Clark's birthday and presented her with a specially-embossed set of whisky tumblers. He told the publication:
"It is a great privilege to see somebody who is not only 100 but an active 100 as well."
As for Clark herself, the secret to her 100 years not out is simple: "Just accept things and don't worry about them. And have a glass of sherry now and then."
Bingo spans the ages
A report published by OnlineBingoClub.co.uk last month showed that the average age of a bingo player is actually decreasing.
The group worked out that the typical player in 2010 is 26, compared to 62 in 1990. OnlineBingoClub.co.uk founder Rob Hutchison believes this change is down to the introduction of online bingo, which he said is bringing in younger fans.
