Bingo and the elderly
There's little doubt that playing club bingo and online bingo is the highlight of the week for many elderly people.
Last year, we reported on the tale of two ladies from Yorkshire, Anne Webster and Nell Horseman, who continued to enjoy a few lines of bingo into their 100s.
They are by no means the only centenarians in British bingo clubs.
But Down Under, it's not just the players who hit triple figures. The bingo callers do too.
Amazing milestone for bingo caller
Cecily Gaunson, from New South Wales, celebrated her 100th birthday on New Year's Day 2010 with letters from the Queen and Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd, reports ABC.
Despite her advancing years, she still calls bingo games three times a week and insists that any talk of retirement is "out of the question".
And Cecily admitted that she's even planning to make light of the milestone in her upcoming bingo sessions.
"I think I'll have a bit of fun with them - I'll toss in a few jokes in the meantime and we'll have a laugh," she said. "I think laughter is the best medicine for anything."
Moreover, she said that a healthy lifestyle was the key to her longevity, namely eating a hearty breakfast, not smoking and staying busy.
"Just keep active and keep going whatever you do," she advised. "Don't sit home and mope."
Buckingham Bingo welcomes senior citizens
Although none of our bingo callers have hit triple figures yet, we're confident that senior citizens will have a very pleasant experience at Buckingham Bingo.
Thousands of elderly bingo fans come to our bingo clubs every week to play a few lines and catch up with old friends.
Many of our clubs boast disabled facilities for customers in wheelchairs and our trained staff members are more than happy to handle special requests.
Alternatively, the Bucky Bingo website offers a great way to play bingo while keeping in touch with friends via our bustling chat rooms.
