Alistair Darling has overlooked the issue of bingo tax in today's budget. There was speculation that the chancellor would return gross profit tax to 15 per cent or at least drop it by a couple of points. Instead, it seems that bingo club duty will be held at 20 per cent for the foreseeable future. This is likely to disappoint the I'm Backing Bingo campaign group, which enjoys the support of countless players and UK operators like Buckingham Bingo.

Online bingo is a great way to play your favourite numbers game. But despite the rise of the internet, it's worth pointing out that millions of gamers still flock to land-based bingo clubs across the UK. Traditional clubs give players the opportunity to meet up with friends and play for huge cash prizes like the £25,000 National Bingo Game and £50,000 Bucky Bullseye. In Rugby, meanwhile, a lady has just scooped a £135,000 jackpot at her local bingo club.

The Oscars are almost upon us. Will Jeff Bridges win Best Actor? Will Sandra Bullock claim Best Actress? And will Hurt Locker fight off Avatar to scoop Best Picture? However, it has to be admitted that many fans of our bingo bonus games aren't all that interested in what happens on the other side of the world. As a result, we've decided to hold our own awards ceremony to celebrate the cream of the crop in the world of bingo bonus games.

Our light-hearted online bingo game could be your ticket to spicing up the PM debates. While Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg drone on about pension deficits, we have devised a little distraction that will keep you on your toes. The PM Online Bingo Game is a 3-player game in which everybody races to complete their bingo cards. But instead of numbers, online bingo fans have to mark off gestures, slogans and soundbites.

Online bingo players with a sentimental streak may be pleased to hear that Paddington Bear is back where he belongs. Namely, eating marmalade on our screens. The world's most famous marmalade fan has been snapped up to promote Robertson's Golden Shred after a brief flirtation with Marmite. He's just one of many cartoon characters to become brand mascots. Postman Pat, Popeye and of course our very own Matt Bucky have all proved to be immensely popular figureheads.
