The final series of Big Brother on Channel 4 comes to a close this month. The programme has proved a bit of a Marmite show as bingo players either love it or hate it. Still, it has provided the UK with some memorable moments and talking points. With this in mind we've put together a fantasy bingo card commemorating all of the very best and worst moments from the television show.

With technology moving forward, and the age of the average online bingo player considerably younger compared to twenty years ago, it may only be a few years before online bingo starts to evolve and take on forms almost completely unrecognisable to how we know it today. We take a look at what the future might have in store for our favourite pastime, and what it could mean for our loyal members.

The online bingo world watched on as Rafael Nadal dispatched of Tomas Berdych on the way to his second Wimbledon title on Sunday. The Spaniard has now picked up eight Grand Slam titles half the amount of rival Roger Federer. To commemorate the occasion, we've put together what we feel would be Rafael Nadal's fantasy bingo card, picking out some of the most significant figures from his already-storied tennis career.

It wasn't the best of weekends for online bingo fans behind England at this year's World Cup. The national team crashed out after a 4-1 defeat against arch-rivals Germany. However, in an effort to help fans come to terms with the fiasco, we've compiled a footy bingo card. We won't use the number 4 though the number of years England will have to wait before we go through this all over again!

A bingo fan in Haringey celebrated a very special birthday recently. Lydia Clark turned 100 and invited some of her bingo hall pals to a party which was also attended by Haringey Mayor Eddie Griffiths. The Mayor was kind enough to present her with a specially-embossed set of whisky tumblers. It just goes to show that bingo really does span all ages, despite a recent report claiming that bingo players were on average getting younger.

As the anticipation for the tournament reaches fever pitch, Bucky unveils a host of bingo tie-ins designed to whet the appetite for the festival of football. The average age of a bingo player in the UK has fallen drastically over the last twenty years, it has been found. According to research from bingo comparison website OnlineBingoClub.co.uk, there is a 34-year age difference between the players marking their cards in 1990 and the players of today. Possible reasons behind this phenomenon could be the increase in internet connectivity in homes, meaning younger net-literate players can now play for cash prizes at home.

The air travel ban has left many Buckingham Bingo members with a lot of time on their hands. In case you haven't heard, a huge eruption in Iceland has brought many European airports to a standstill. So if you're stuck in the UK, don't just sit at home watching the news bulletins. Our UK bingo clubs and online bingo site are still open for business so why not play a few lines of your favourite numbers game instead?

Alistair Darling has overlooked the issue of bingo tax in today's budget. There was speculation that the chancellor would return gross profit tax to 15 per cent or at least drop it by a couple of points. Instead, it seems that bingo club duty will be held at 20 per cent for the foreseeable future. This is likely to disappoint the I'm Backing Bingo campaign group, which enjoys the support of countless players and UK operators like Buckingham Bingo.

The PM Online Bingo Game is a 3-player game in which everybody races to complete their bingo cards. But instead of numbers, online bingo fans have to mark off gestures, slogans and soundbites.

Online bingo chat rooms have been alive with chatter this week about a certain Cheryl Cole. As if you didn't know already, our favourite X Factor judge has just separated from husband Ashley. It seems as if Cheryl has finally had enough of the Chelsea and England footballer after two years of exposes about his alleged infidelities. She may be feeling a bit down right now, but at least a series of good omens in the bingo balls provide some crumbs of comfort.

There are plenty of parallels between bingo games and classrooms, according to a light-hearted article from a secondary school teacher. Gill Pyatt works as a maths tutor in Gloucester and also helps out as bingo caller at a local homeless shelter. She noted that both groups are distinctly territorial when it comes to getting the best seats. Moreover, bingo game players act like class prefects by handing out the pens and winners face a boisterous atmosphere reminiscent of the playground.

It's the tallest mountain in Africa. But one plucky woman plans to climb Kilimanjaro to raise £4,000 for the charity set up in memory of her late father. Of course, the trip itself won't be cheap so she has organised a series of bingo nights to raise the necessary funds. There has been a spate of mountain-climbing escapades recently. British bingo club employees recently took on Everest to fundraise for Sue Ryder Care, while staff at Buckingham Bingo Huyton climbed Snowdon to support Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.

A new report suggests online bingo is continuing to grow regardless of the recession. The study, published by Ernst & Young, noted that operators are investing heavily in online bingo to improve the playing experience. It's thought that many people are turning to online bingo as it offers a "fun, cost-effective" alternative to traditional hobbies. The report concluded that the bingo industry was on course to emerge stronger as the economic recovery gathers pace.

It's all part of a year-long campaign to raise £1 million for the charity Sue Ryder Care. Last month, employees at Buckingham Bingo Huyton embarked on their own epic charity adventure by climbing Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales.

It is beyond dispute that online bingo has attracted many young first-time players. But here at Bucky Bingo, we recognise that the numbers game still enjoys a phenomenal level of support from the older generation. We want to pay tribute to a couple of these mature players, Anne and Nell. Anne is 102 years old and a loyal member of Buckingham Bingo Bradford, where she recently hit the headlines by having a chat with Philip Davies MP.

Rio Ferdinand has emerged as poster boy for the staycation movement after popping up at a caravan park in north Wales. The £29.1 million England star unexpectedly visited Presthaven Sands Holiday Park in Prestatyn and got behind the wheel of a go-kart, although it isn't known if he also played some bingo games. Recent studies suggest more and more people are copying Rio by day-tripping instead of going abroad. Indeed, the growing popularity of the staycation could lead to a surge in demand for online bingo.

A growing number of plays are devoting themselves to the exciting world of bingo games. Later this month, Strictly Bingo will recreate a bingo session for London theatregoers while this summer has also seen an innovative Manchester production of Everybody Loves a Winner, which incorporated a real free bingo game. While it's clear that bingo is experiencing a cultural revival of unprecedented proportions, there is only one question on everybody's lips. When will bingo star on Broadway?
